Jim Carbin OSUI

Jim played such a large role in making our wedding day special. He took the time to get to know each of us, our story of how we met, and our life since we began seeing one another. He used this information to create a special ceremony just for us. We had quite a few last minute changes, but Jim was right there to help us every step of the way. He offered advice and was always so accommodating.

Since we were travelling from the US and had never been to Ireland, we were nervous when we first started planning but Jim quickly put our minds at ease and made the process so enjoyable. We could not be happier with our wedding day, and that Jim was there to celebrate with us and help make it a day we will never forget!

What an absolute legend this man is! We truly had the best wedding and it was all kicked off with this guy! From our first zoom meeting until the day of our wedding Jim made us feel so at ease. Such a lovely, genuine and professional man and a credit to what he does. Our ceremony felt so relaxed and personalised to us. All of our guests have commented on how lovely our ceremony was. Wow – what a guy. If you are considering Jim , take it from me – look no more. When it comes to weddings, we found that a lot of our stress came from our suppliers either upping their prices, cancelling – changing things last minute etc and hand on heart I can say only Jim was our saving grace. Jim has a natural warmth about him that puts everyone in the room at ease. It was like an old friend marrying us and we really felt at ease with Jim. He really comes prepared on the day and before hand gets to know you as a couple. From experience I can say the one thing you want from your celebrant is for them to take the stress off your shoulders on the day and this happened with Jim!

Jim also bonus has a great accent and is musically gifted which added a fun element. I believe the ceremony was my favorite part of the day. We loved when Jim gives you advice of what would work and basically not to forget that this day is about you! You can pick a song to play just for the sake of it to soak it all in, this advice was invaluable. Thank you so much Jim. We wish we could do it all again, you have a natural gift and we will recommend you to anyone who will listen to us!!

Jim made the whole process an absolute joy from the get go. Very much our type of human, guiding us through each step with humour and a real sense of ease. On the day, Jim made us both feel super relaxed where it actually felt like a friend was delivering our ceremony. Jim is one of the loveliest human beings you can interact with; how blessed we were to have him as our celebrant. His personality is one to mesh well with anyone he comes across; even quirky couples, like my husband and I. He ensures his message during the ceremony is tailored to your wants/needs; he puts time and thought into the words he shares and it felt unique to your relationship, not cookie-cutter to others. We had shared some ideas during our planning sessions of how to “tie the knot” symbolically and Jim added an amazing and personalized touch onto our hand-fasting ceremony. I’m thankful he was willing and able to climb down mountains for us and reach our location and back up them again… literally.

Jim was an amazing Celebrant. I couldn’t have imagined anyone else doing his job. Over covid we postponed twice and almost didn’t have him, but we made sure to request him. On our wedding day Jim made the guests and speakers relaxed and welcome. He calmed the grooms nerves and met me when I arrived and put me at ease. Jim was perfect in every way! He was so great communicating with us through every step of the way. He had great suggestions for us, but was also wonderful with little changes we wanted to make. He made the entire process so smooth. It was like as if we had known him for years. He really got to know us and allowed us to get to know him as well. He went above and beyond for us. We invited him to our dinner and so enjoyed his humor and getting to know him even better. It was a small, intimate wedding with only 6 of us in the wedding party. Jim was kind enough to learn, play and sing ‘A Thousand Years” for us to dance to, since we didn’t have a band. He did a wonderful job! When we began planning our wedding we knew what we wanted but didn’t know how it would work, when we got Jim as our celebrant I was a little hesitant but after speaking with jim twice before we signed anything I just knew he was the perfect fit for us.
Jim took care of the intire ceremony and was only a call away with the many questions I had, he was honestly the best to deal with!

Spiritual ceremonies assigned us a celebrant when we booked, who we had met at a wedding fair so we were very happy with that. We were dealt a curveball only a few months before our wedding in that our original celebrant had changed career but spiritual ceremonies assigned us a new celebrant immediately and we could choose someone different if we had wanted to. We read up on our new celebrant, Jim Carbin and checked out his reviews. He then very promptly got in contact with us and we were so impressed by how on the ball he was as he organised to chat with us on a video call the next day. After our video chat we were instantly at ease with the situation following the initial panic. Jim was so easy to talk to and really listened to our story and what we wanted for our ceremony. We were also lucky enough to meet him in person a month or so before the wedding and get to know him better which was great for us. We found Jim to be so friendly, relaxed and down to earth but also a real perfectionist in his work. We had a lot of things in common and it felt meant to be.

Myself and my now husband got engaged December 19 and had big hopes to Marry September 20. We planned our wedding in Donegal in about 2 weeks and thought all we would really have to do is sit back and wait for our beautiful day and tie up some final details closer to the time. However, little did we know COVID19 was about to make its entrance on the world stage and our day, like so many others would be thrown into a spin. Jim was our chosen celebrant and I am so glad he was. Jim was cool, calm and collected throughout a difficult planning period. He kept in touch with us and reached out to let us know where we stood every time there was yet another new announcement about what was or was not allowed. In the end Jim wrote and gave a beautiful ceremony that brought me to tears on the day. We were due to get married on April 11th but due to covid we had to change our date aswel as our solemniser. From here we got introduced to Jim! Jim settled our nevers and answered any of our concerns morning noon or even night, he was always at the other end of the line. Jim reassured us on everything even though we had never met him before. He was calm, assertive and could have a laugh with. The day of our wedding was a breeze the ceremony was fantastic and relaxed. He had everything set up when we arrived to such a high standard and had the stubborn candles pre lite and readings printed so we had no problem. He really had though of everything.
